How to treat snoring in Kolkata?

Snoring is a sound which gets produced due to vibrating respiratory structures because of obstructive breathing during sleep.

Both surgical and non surgical treatment methods are used to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea disorder depending upon the condition of a patient. One of the most used non surgical methods to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea is CPAP. A portable device is fitted on the nose which helps the patient to sleep peacefully by holding the respiratory structures in an expanded state. Other surgical methods are – Uvulectomy, Septoplasty, Nasal Reconstruction and Palatal Implants. The Uvulectomy basically involves incising a large uvula to allow normal breathing. In Septoplasty, nasal obstruction is treated through surgery and medications. Nasal reconstruction is largely performed in children by removing  tonsils or adenoids. Palatal Implants involve placing woven implants in the soft palace to reduce the vibrations.

Some other advanced surgery techniques include Genioglossal advancement surgery, Thyrohyoid Suspension Procedure and Maxillary – Mandibular advancement. Genioglossal advancement surgery involves forward displacement of tongue for unobstructed breathing. Thyrohyoid Suspension Procedure deals with hyoid bone to thyroid cartilage. Maxillary – Mandibular advancement  is a highly rare procedure used for enlarging the airway.
